Welcome to ATXFoodies

/food•ie/: Taking Instagrams of food instead of eating it – Parks and Rec

Hello Austinites, foodies, and alike! Welcome to my blog! I wanted to start off by sharing a little bit about the purpose of this blog so that I can set the tone for what you can expect from this site.

#1 I love food, and I want to share my experiences with the world; however, I am not by any means a professional writer. In fact, this expertly crafted Lord of the Rings fan fiction will probably be better than half of the writing you encounter on this site:

“LEGOLAS BY LAURA”

#2 I am not an Austin native, and I am not an expert at every restaurant in town (I haven’t even tried Franklin’s yet – it’s a tragedy, really). Even though I’ve lived in this city for five years, I’ve only just now started to branch out and try new places. I used to be that guy who wanted to go to the same place every Friday, order the same item on the menu, and be content. I’m now on a journey that will hopefully end with me murdering my past, boring self, and I want everyone to be there by my side when I do it.

#3 This is NOT going to strictly be a medium for critiquing restaurants. There’s Yelp, Google, and a whole bunch of other resources for that already. I want to try those three, four, and five star restaurants out for myself and hopefully guide you in answering the following all important life-changing questions:

What should I order?

What should I NOT order?

Would this be the perfect place for a date?

What’s the parking situation?

What’s the wait like?

Should I fast a whole week ahead of time to prepare?

What are some things I can do before or after the meal in that area?

Are the waiting staff extremely attractive?

I have a lot more ideas flowing through my head that I would love to implement on here, so I’ll just let the blog evolve on it’s own.

#4 I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition, so I’m hoping that this blog can also be a guide for all foodies out there who need some advice for keeping fit without having to sacrifice their foodie lifestyles.

So if you’ve liked what you’ve read so far, then I suggest checking this page out every once in a while. My goal is to try at least one new place once a week, and to push out new content at the same rate. I hope you have as much fun reading these as I do stuffing my face with the food I write about. P.S. You should consider bringing some paper towels, because you’re about to drool all over your keyboards.

Cheers!
